Harold and Rose have always told families, "this is our home, you make it your home too". Harold and Rose lived at this location the first several years of their marriage. The main part of this building was built around 1920 by Mr. John Boone. Many different families lived here before it was purchased by Marvin and Edith Flythe in 1952, when at that time, became Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Flythe and R.L. "Scoopie" Grant, were partners at the funeral home until Mr. Grant's death in 1974. Harold worked with the Flythe family for many years. Mr. Flythe passed away in June 1987 and Mrs. Flythe decided to sell the funeral home facility to Harold. Since its inception as a funeral home, the Jackson location has served as a place of compassion and care during the death of a loved one.

In the 1990s we were called by families in nearby Bertie County to handle funeral services for their loved ones. Aulander is twenty five miles from Jackson. This made it inconvenient for families that wanted our services. The reason so many families were calling us for services was the fact that the funeral home that had served this community for many years had been sold to one of the foreign, owned companies. When this was done, the "foreign owned" funeral home charges for their services increased dramatically. Many people asked Harold to open a funeral home in Aulander, and with this being said, Harold and Rose built a funeral home facility in Aulander. We have served many families in this community since then. This funeral home has a chapel that will seat 120 people, casket selection room, preparation room and a spacious visitation room.
